Battery Park is a media production company operated by Shetland College music and film students based in Mareel and with the support of Shetland Arts.

We produce a range of music recordings, videos, radio shows and podcasts to showcase the creativity and talent of original musicians and filmmakers in Shetland.

Battery Park Records takes its name from the Royal Navy Reserve gun battery which was based on the site of Mareel during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Fittingly, the 32 powder cannons were used for training and target practice after being moved from Fort Charlotte due to the “terrible noise”.
