Devante Jefferson, also known as Backpack Beatz, is a 22-year-old producer hailing from Milton, FL. Getting inspiration from legends like Madlib, J Dilla, Kanye West, and 9th Wonder, Backpack’s goal is to continue the raw-hip hop sound. He’s been producing music since the age of 13, using his background in drums and piano. Backpack is currently a senior at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, studying broadcast journalism. He is also working with local Tallahassee acts and radio hosts, as well as scoring films and documentaries. He’s worked with artists like Rampage the Last Boy Scout, Dynasty, Lyric Jones, as well as various members of Pro Era. With unlimited room to grow, Backpack is planning on being in conversations with the greats of not only hip hop music, but music in general.
