Nazare

NAZARE - I’d be travelling around Portugal in a van for just over a week, determined to find a scenic spot to park up and record a mix. On the way to Nazare I searched ‘campervan parking’ on google maps hoping to find a decent spot for the night. The first result, ‘Nazare Playa’. Immediately thinking of the burning man ‘playa’ I was sold on the location. The views, breathtaking.

Praia Do Norte at Nazare produces the largest and most powerful waves in the world, however as I stood in the back of the van, pondering what it would be like to witness them first hand, I decided I wanted to record a mix that contrasts with their intensity. I decided to select tracks that channel my own relationship with surfing and the ocean. A feeling of calmness, balance, and a sense of being present. Something that I can only really achieve whilst in the water.

As I recorded, I started to get drunk from this Syrah I’d picked up in Lagos. So I though fuck it, picked up the energy, and let it rip.
