Alkis Zopoglou
Kavala, Greece
Alkis Zopoglou meets kanun from a very early age and is performing passionately ever since. For eight years he systematically takes lessons in Istanbul.
His creative anxiety is channeled into the music ensemble "Kontrabando" of which he is a founding member. As a composer, Alkis Zopoglou balances tradition and modernity and his works have captivated thousands of listeners in important concert venues and festivals around the world. He has been active as a composer as well and has produced two personal albums. Many of his compositions have been distributed worldwide.
Since 2013 he is founder and artistic director of mediterranean music festival in Zurich (www.mmfestival.ch) where he lives in recent years. Since 2020 he is artistic director of Cosmopolis festival (www.cosmopolisfestival.gr) in his home town Kavala Greece.
