Brussels, Belgium

YLÏAM [Maïly Beyrens Xu] is an artist based in Bruxelles.

They explore how sound, objects, and memory can transform into experiences of presence, play and relation, inviting communities to listen, remember, and re-imagine together.

Their installations, films, and workshops often begin with intimate gestures (a fond memory, a forgotten song) — yet expand into shared spaces where humor and grief, the personal and the communal, coexist.

Their ongoing research into the legacy of acoustician Albert Yaying Xu, their grandfather, unfolds as both an intimate mourning process and a broader inquiry into listening as a cultural inheritance.

What emerges is work that resists fixed form and flows somewhere between cinema, installation, and gatherings— yet always looks into ways to open passages of connection between people, places, and time.
