XYM is a conscious rapper, originally from Halifax, West Yorkshire. He’s an old school hip-hop artist and true lyricist. He’s released six albums independently and has had radio play on various stations including BBC 1xtra and Suspect Package’s radio show. He was also recently the guest artist on I Am Hip Hop’s radio show. He’s gigged extensively, mostly in London, and has just returned from his second gig abroad in Hamburg. He’s also an actor and script writer. He won a sitcom writing competition with the BBC and is developing a new sitcom about hip-hop. He’s also written a play about hip-hop called Up North, which got shortlisted for the Alfred Fagon Award and he has just received a grant from the Arts Council for it.
