The X Factor originally began as the XY Factor on the Cerritos College Campus in Norwalk, California. The first show aired on January 15, 2003 on WPMD 956 on the AM Band. The show was conceived by Juve Vique as a talk show about relationships. The first two shows that aired had Juve as a host along with a co-host, Karla, Juve's ex-girlfriend at the time. The show didn't do so well and it was quickly re formated. Juve's cousin, Ruben, came in as the new co-host, the name was changed from the XY Factor to The X Factor and a new chemistry began anew. The X Factor would also be one of the first shows to launch the new, at the time, internet radio station at Cerritos College. WPMD on the Net allowed students to broadcast shows with music and subjects that they could not otherwise play on the AM portion of the radio station.
