It begins as ritual: the Munich commune whose forty-eight hours of anyone-can-play percussion became a BASF double LP called Disaster, then frays further into Mazzoll's Polish reeds. The hour finds a song in 1971 Madrid — Gloria van Aerssen and Carmen Santonja, two women near forty, putting fables to folk-pop for the small Opalo label while the censor read allegory into a cat — and then deliberately loses the song again on a first-gig tape from a Tel Aviv club, three men from three scenes improvising the night's pure avant-garde turn. …
