Many people have heard of the genres of jazz funk, neo soul or jazz rap but what they often don't know if that these genres of music descended from one genre that was wildly popular in the late 1980s: acid jazz. Acid jazz originated in clubs in London during the 1980s with the rare groove movement and spread to the United States, Japan, Eastern Europe, and Brazil well into the 1990s and even 2000s.
