I always say I’m an emotional DJ rather than a technical one, playing for hearts rather than heads. And bodies of course, definitely for bodies. I love what music can do to us and when I play I love to tap into that and be a catalyst for all those brilliant tunes to do their magic. It doesn’t suit me to be restricted by genres or by BPMs or styles or algorithms, I’m far more into the thrill of instinct, intuition and finding just the right response for that very moment. Then it feels like an exhilarating, joyful perfect collaboration between the music and it’s makers, the crowd, and me.
All of those elements are crucial, the crowd is the guide tune by tune, so getting that exhilaration across here isn’t really going to happen. But hopefully the love of good tunes across the spectrum, and a feel of how they fit together is apparent and will make you feel gooooood wherever you’re listening, and I hope dancing, to them.
