Toxic Sofa are husband and wife music duo Tim Bastock and Kim Halliday and are based in Redcar and Cleveland. Tim has been playing guitar for over 50 years and is also an experienced bassist, having played in a variety of local bands and for amateur shows and pantomimes. Kim has a mainly theatrical background, although she has sung in musicals and at festivals such as Glastonbury and on Saturday prime time TV. She also sings and plays bass guitar for a church band alongside Tim on guitar. After watching Folk Comedy legend Richard Digance perform in 2013, Kim was inspired to start writing some amusing observations on life and after participating in a songwriting course mentored by Sir Ray Davies of The Kinks fame, this has now expanded to some more serious observational writing. Toxic Sofa were formed on 19th May 2015 to play small slots at pubs, festivals and events, recently branching out into entertaining at local care homes and service providers.
