PASCAL DUMONT aka TOTEM

Clocolan is the solo project of Emlyn Ellis Addison, a composer and producer born in South Africa, now living in Providence, Rhode Island, USA.
Exploring the themes of hauntology and psychedelia, he delivers music that expresses old-fashioned melancholy, imaginary futures, untamed immensities, all lost in the background noise of Human endeavor with a "cinematic" quality out of the ordinary.
He released an EP in 2015 and a superb debut album in 2017, Nothing Left to Abandon. At the time, the artistic direction gave the impression of a cosmic sequel to Boards of Canada's latest album, Tomorrow's Harvest, released in 2013.
The story continued on a second album with It's Not Too Early For Each Other in 2019 and This Will End In Love in 2020, with a strong attachment to electronic percussions until the official Space departure with op +errata in 2021, whose absence of rhythms gives way to a subtle frame of technological devices.
In 2022, the composer offers us the dystopian Empathy Alpha, a fifth album divided into five scenes of a retrofuturistic medium-length film and produced in collaboration with voice actors and actresses.
As you understood, Clocolan delivers a lo-fi electronica both vintage and futuristic whose structural and melodic beauty is present under the surface. Addison achieves a controlled musical cohesion like a boundary that separates harmonics from conscious expression.
