Tipp Da HollowHead was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and was raised in South Bend, a house in Indiana's South Bend, Westside He and his siblings were raised by their mother, Lynette Cooper, After that he attended John Quincy Adams High School in Downtown Notre Dame, with fellow future rappers, but did not graduate. In his music he refers to having been involved in with the streets. He has also said he had been shot during this time in his life.

According to his mother, Tipp Da Hollowhead and identical twin brother Trappinstein used to wake up his siblings at night blasting out speakers in the basement. Eventually, she bought him a boom box for his birthday, sparking his interest in music.
