Last Monday, the 16th, we tweeted and Facebook-posted a question: what do you do about content you don't like online? Do you hate fave or hate share? Do you block or unfollow the person posting it? Do you subtweet about it? Do you simply ignore it and go about your day? In an Internet of so many possible options, and so much hate-able content, what is an experienced user to do? Here are some reader replies telling us how they respond (or don't!) to truly offensive Internet business: Lux Alptraum: Depends on why I don't like it. If it's just dumb I usually ignore, if it's something I feel I need to engage with/respond to I will share with a response. Try to avoid the hate share, but sometimes it's hard. Danny Groner: I email it to a select group of people who would appreciate/agree with my sentiment. Let's make (public) social media less hate-filled. Also, for standout stories, I'm sure to reach out to the writer to say good job. Not enough of that going on. A thankless job mostly. Coli
