The Rock and Lol Show

Cape Town, South Africa

The Producer, AKA the Desk Jockey, saw a gap in the market for a show that brought together two of South Africa’s great loves: Rap and rugby. However, when it became clear that most of SA’s rappers were starring in Generations and that almost every rugby player thought “banter” was a type of bakkie, she decided that Rock and Comedy would have to do.

Hauling Nick from his Twitter fans and Kellyn from a dubious underground comedy club (apparently they were props, not poles), The Producer chucked them together in a soundproof room and waited for the magic to happen. Then she gave them some Crème Soda (would you like to advertise here? Please mail therockandlolshow@gmail.com) and waited some more. Slowly but surely, a beautiful collaboration emerged. Like bacon and eggs, Wimpy and road trips, taxi drivers and Celion Dion songs, The Rock and Lol Show was born – and it was match made in radio heaven (aka, a place that is just next door to, but not managed by, the SABC).
