Remix
verb {ree-miks}
Definition
to use a machine or computer to change or improve the different parts of an existing music recording to make a new recording.
Quite.
A good remix is a beautiful thing, taking a song and turning it on its head, forcing you to see it in a different light. At best, it propels the original to giddy heights unattainable in its previous guise. At worse, it murders something you hold dear in cold blood, with a blunted knife in a dark alley. Thankfully, you won’t be exposed to many of the latter here.
We tried to keep it current (ish), so many much-loved classic remixes were left out. We also left out mash-ups (in anticipation of a future podcast), and people remixing their own music (with one particularly exceptional exception).
So enjoy yourselves. But - whatever you do - don’t switch off before the Metropolis remix at the end. There’s a strong possibility it might elevate you to a higher state of consciousness.
Peace out homebodies.
