"GET TOGETHER!" This week, The Blue Bus route sign reads 'TRIBUTE TO JESSE!' As Forest & Morrison the Cat sadly mark the passing of Jesse Colin Young on Mar 16th, 2025. Jesse rose to fame with the Youngbloods and later as an acclaimed solo artist, from his ridgetop in Northern California. Dino Valenti's song, 'Get Together' was an anthem for the Woodstock generation, that Jessie helped to make popular and his own 'Darkness Darkness' exposed the isolation of the Vietnam War. Forest, thank you for this tribute. I have many Jesse and Jerry stories from my early youth, but…Once upon a time Jesse and Suzy rode into the boat yard at Marconi Cove on Tomales Bay to visit Jerry Corbitt who was living on his moored Trimaran. Jesse was wearing the raccoon hat. They took the picture of the bike and Jesse with his hat. I knew Jerry as a fifteen year old living with my Dad next to Jerry. Suzy invited us up to the house on Inverness ridge. I spent the night a few times and had the opportunity to play my cello to a Lowell George willin track that needed a natural string sound. Dr. Ted Ashford wrote me a score on the spot. Dr Ted put me on a big piece of foam because I made a noise with my foot when I played and it came through. Suzy gave great advice as a youngster. Suzy said don’t let the city drive you crazy. So I stay on boats for ten years. Even delivered a sailboat to Maui. They were really fine people and had many in their tribe.
