I should probably text you, but I played the cello in the Ridgetop studio with Jerry and Ted Ashford. Off sunyside drive I believe. It all burned and Jessie moved to Hawaii. I hear he is back now.
The song was Willin' by Lowell George. I suppose it is still in the Warner archives someplace. I was 16 and just out of high school orchestra. Dr. Ted wrote a score for me to play. They had a fireman's pole and cantilevered wall in the studio. And an apartment below. Jessie and Suzy had an amazing house next to the studio and I spent the night in the beautiful bunk beds. Suzy was awesome.
A fab show, I especially dug the Philly Soul of Billy Paul. That Joni Mitchell song is great as well: it's one of the only times she uses standard tuning on the guitar! A rare occurance. Mahalo and Bus... On... Baby! 🧳🩴🌊
