THE AKANE – Profile

Hiroshi Akane, also known as THE AKANE, is a veteran artist with a career spanning over 20 years, having started his journey as a DJ in 1997. In 2000, he signed with THCRECORD, and in 2004, he made a significant mark in the scene by topping the annual sales rankings on the online music store Isshou Kikeru CD.COM, surpassing several internationally renowned DJs.

In 2014, he established a nonprofit organization and began actively working as both a performer and producer. He has organized a number of unique events in unconventional venues, often in collaboration with local governments. These include Japan’s first DJ event held at a Shinto shrine, OYASHIROFES; Tenkuu, celebrating the opening of the Tamagawa Sky Bridge; Reggae Park, held in a central park in downtown Kawasaki; and Wagwan Kawasaki, hosted at the Kawasaki Velodrome.

Since 2020, he has expanded his creative expression by studying traditional Japanese taiko drumming. In 2023, he joined the taiko group Wad
