Takeover Radio is the UK's first children's full-time community radio station. It broadcasts live online at takeoverradio.co.uk from Abbey Park in Leicester. As a registered charity, Takeover Radio Children's Media Trust trains young people in media, journalism and broadcasting skills from 8-18.

Founded by Graham Coley in 1997 as a series of short-term broadcasts, in 2001, Takeover Radio was granted a Pilot license and then a full-time Community Broadcasting License in 2005.

During a training course, the children are taught radio production skills and then across weekday evenings and during the weekends the “kidz Takeover” the airwaves and have complete editorial and content control, guided only by what they’ve learned during their extensive hands-on training. Many of the young people have continued to develop their media skills and have forged careers have forged careers in the top tiers of broadcasting and elsewhere.
