1979 was an extraordinary time in music, when a small group of DJ's rejected beat mixing and disco to fill their dance floors with punk, new wave, and genres like rockabilly, soul and ska that worked so well together. We honored the whole song, with no interest in dazzling anyone with technical tricks. In the rare guest spots I do today, I revisit that era, 1979 to 1982, when I was the full time DJ at Neo in Chicago.
