His work blends ambient textures, and evolving rhythmic structures, often built from custom tools and self-designed processes rather than traditional song frameworks.

Alongside music, Stephen develops Max for Live devices for Ableton Live, creating tools that explore harmony, tempo, spatial movement, and perception — including releases such as Spectral Bloom, The Shepard, and Takt. These devices are designed not just as utilities, but as instruments in their own right, and often form the backbone of experimental compositions and performances.
