Dj Suga Kan'n (France/Antilles/Côte d'Ivoire) is a nomadic riddim-seeker, a one-of-a-kind exponent of magical and mellifluous melodies who travels the globe collecting traditional music from Africa, South America and the Caribbean. For over 20 years now, he's been a tireless promoter of traditional music that draws its influence from the beat of the drum.

From Senegalese Mbalax to Haitian Voodoo incantations, his aim is to promote a wide range of styles that all have a distinctive link to Africa, but hardly ever appears under the label 'Black Music'. Yet not only are the styles linked but most of the urban beats currently played in clubs are directly influenced by those ancient rhythms or are simply modern translations. Suga Kan'n (a name he chose as a homage to the cane cutters of the Caribbean) proves it time and again through a selection that makes the audience aware of this intimate relationship between ancient and modern beats, using the most obvious path - dance!
