The Stereo Sprouts: A Sort-of Biography
The Stereo Sprouts are a DJ duo grown entirely in confusion and compost. Consisting of DJ Sprouticus and MC Kale Fail (both named Dennis, somehow), they met arguing over vegetables in a supermarket and formed a musical partnership rooted in mediocrity.
Known for their aggressively average beats and questionable live shows — one club mistook them for a salad bar — the Sprouts carved out a niche blending limp techno with ambient farm noises and unexpected cowbells. Their influences include “fridge hums” and “cheap synths with attitude problems.”
Their latest album, Not Straight Out of Brussels, is widely considered their best work — mostly because their earlier stuff was terrible. It’s weird, mildly funky, and alarmingly sprout-themed.
Whether you love oddball dance music or just enjoy watching two men in headphones try their best, The Stereo Sprouts are here to mildly entertain, confuse, and maybe even grow on you.
