Psyk (Simon Jegels) is one part of a trio called Headz Up! His pursuit in the mastered art of mixing begun around 2007 when he was drawn to the scenes of deep advocates indefinitely. Touched by its culture and humble nature, the music effectively drew him to dance floors across Joburg when the
underground made waves at the Lighthouse, 115, Carfax and rusty warehouses.
He soon nurtured a wet appetite for the intricacies that illuminate the deep house culture in Jozi’s nightlife, dating back to smoke filled underground cafe’s, grilling wax till sunrise. Psyk’s passion soon reflected in tasty analog sounds around the marginalised locations of believers where he quickly developed an identifiable and authentic style to his sets.
Although he prefers 12" wax, he has quickly adapted to a fast paced digital world drawing from his greatest influences- the likes of Atope, Quarion, Steve Bug, Trickski, Moomin and Jamie (Jimpster) to name just a few.
