Special Berriez is an interdisciplinary artist, producer, DJ, and musical director who is a native Washingtonian. Berriez's central goals as an artist, visionary, and director are to preserve historical Black arts and culture while creating modern works that honor that past as we globally build bridges towards the future. Currently, Berriez’s projects include a monthly music producer showcase called Joantz that is based at HR Records in D.C. which features all kinds of producers, from underground hip-hop legends such as Discipline_99, to new and exciting producers making a name for themselves such as Magnus Andretti and Coltcaine. Berriez also participates in a monthly residency at the Crate Convention which is hosted at the Anacostia Arts Center under DJ RBI, and co-hosts RBI’s Ill Street Grooves Radio on 89.3FM WPFW airing on the first Saturday of each month.
