SPACEBAND is a six-person music/performance collective. Our music is recognized by its decidedly Afro-funk slant hinged on a bebop affect and solid beats, complemented by otherworldly synth/sampled melodic tones. Custom costuming, occasional puppetry and projected backdrops make up the visual component of our performances.
Based in Detroit, Spaceband has been together for over 10 years, playing many local music festivals including 4th Street Fair, Dally in the Ally, Hamtamck Metro Times Blow-Out, and The Russell Industrial Center’s People’s Art Fest.
We are now part of the Guinness Book of World Records thanks to our participation at AJ's Cafe’s 2-week non-stop Assembly Line music marathon.
