A real fun and soulful set! I bet your friends enjoyed the party, I did!
It was a wonderful night. Grown "children" holding speeches to honor their ( temporarily leaving) parents. Overwhelmed parents with tears of joy in their eyes for receiving all the love. You can't play for a better crowd. It was funny that the party was at its peak when I played late 1950's and early 1960's stuff. The youth went nuts to tunes by Ruth Brown, Louis Jordan, Wynonie Harris, the early Ray Charles and such. They even cheered between the songs even though (I'd guess) they've never heard them before. Later everybody was dancing to their musical choices (that I've never heard before). Just like anybody else I LOVED being there. It was quite an international gathering, too.
