Dancefloor Jazz

00:00

Dancefloor Jazz might be more compatible to the masses as BeBop, HardBop and WhateverBop. But I don’t think it’s diluted music. Anybody who says it’s easy to do simply should give it a try. In my opinion this kind of happy music doesn’t do the the "pure" Jazz any harm. It’s even opposed to that. In the late 1980s and early 90s when people like Guru (Jazzmatazz) sampled Herbie Hancock and other Jazz Giants, the hipsters started buying the originals again. I don‘t claim that I ever was a hipster, but I did the same. Another thing. I never liked when James Brown’s music was remixed as I always preferred the original recordings (and I know them all :), but the edit on "Sunny" is really awesome and can easily fill any dancefloor. So some tunes beautifully proved me wrong and now I’m enjoying them the most.

EXCELLENT selection Soul Preacher - really enjoyed these tunes.

FAVES were:
JAMES BROWN – This works really well. JB is such a cool cat. Definitely one for the dancers.
- SWEET THUNDER – Sweet vibe and harmonies.
- MONGO SANTAMARIA – Super Latin Jam and groove. Floor-filler for sure
- INCOGNITO – ‘Summer’ feel-good tune
- LES McCANN & EDDIE HARRIS – Funky JAZZ groove indeed. You can get lost in this track for some time – great!
- FRED WESLEY – Cool cut. Nice Sax and Trombone there.

Much appreciated. Keep on keeping on – Jas :)

Another great set mate, I really like how you mixed the older with older and made the link as you always do. Lots of my favourite acts in this one and I agree with you about the James Brown remix. Highlight for me though was definitely Mongo Santamaria!
