Maya Angelou said, “Music was [her] refuge” and that “There is a spirit in all music. […It] has the ability to create ideas in you and me. It has the ability to encourage us to be creative”. I relate to both quotes. Growing up, music and movement felt like a refuge. Living in new spaces, new countries, music has become the anchor point for all connections. Throughout my journey I have been moved and influenced by so many different people, genres, and music styles, and yet there is still so much to discover and learn. The spirit of music leads us to ourselves and creates a pathway to a deeper connection to others. This is the experience I want to share.
