Based in West Yorkshire, Sonore Ensemble is a quartet of Leeds College of Music alumni and students. Originating as a flute and cello duet, it has expanded and now consists of Sarah Batten on flute, clarinet, saxophone and vocals, Tilly Jackson on violin, viola and vocals, Cat Ledgerwood on cello and vocals, and Natasha Shepherd on violin, viola, piano and vocals.
Having such a wide range of instruments gives the ensemble flexibility and allows them to perform as one group or break off into smaller ensembles as well as tackling different genres of music, including a cappella music.
Sonore Ensemble actively performs for weddings and other functions, most recently as as part of the Bolton Priory Concert Season. The ensemble members arrange the majority of the music they perform, meaning that they are able to play requested music and put a unique twist on some classics.
