Sokol Heroes

Sokol Heroes is a weekly one-hour show on 93.9 The River, celebrating music with connections to Western Massachusetts. The show is hosted by The River’s midday on-air voice and production director, Michael Sokol, and his father David Sokol, longtime music editor for the Advocate Newspapers and co-author of Positively Center Street, a history of the iconic Iron Horse Music Hall. Each show presents a wide-ranging spectrum of the artists and recordings, on major and independent labels, that have come out of this area from the late 1960s right up to the present. An expansion of WRSI’s commitment to sprinkling regional artists, local heroes, into its eclectic playlists, Sokol Heroes is unlike anything else on the airwaves in our region.
