Amsterdam, Netherlands
SMYT was born and raised in Haarlem, Holland. Growing up, he attended the same school as Don Diablo and Gregor Salto. Keen on Chopin and Rachmaninoff, he learned to play the piano at a very young age . SMYT is definitely not the average ‘big room’ producer.
One of his early introductions to Electronic Dance Music was through Fedde Le Grand and his hit single ‘Put Your Hands Up For Detroit.’ The song paved the way for many electronic DJs/Producers such as Funkerman, Baggi Begovic, Gregor Salto & ErickE. Baggi Begovic’s ‘Good God’ sealed the deal for SMYT and launched him into the EDM scene, working on mix-tapes.
When he is not busy DJing or producing, the young Dutch artist is constantly on the prowl for new tracks for his Elixir Radio show.
SMYT’s love for dance music is based on the emotions and complexity of the composition that make up the genre. His focus on editing intros is based on his belief that intros are what lay down the mood of a track.
