B.boy Smerk is the epitome of hip hop. His history parallels that of hip hop culture almost as if they are one in the same. Let me paint the picture; born in the Bronx, NY, of Puerto Rican decent, got into trouble as a youth, found the positive outlets of music, art, and dance through hip hop, started experimenting with turntables, created a tag for himself, and began to explode on the breaks as a B.boy. Smerk does not do hip hop, he IS hip hop.

Growing up in a military family, Marc “B.boy Smerk” Cancino moved around quite a bit during grade school. Eventually he moved back to his birthplace in the Bronx, NY, in the late 80’s, when he entered junior high. This is where his career as a hip hop artist began to take shape.
