On March 24th, 2025, I created a two-hour love letter to Trans people on @kexp ‘s Sounds of Survivance called TRANS Native.
This show was meant to not only make Trans people feel seen but revered—just as they were by my ancestors. At a time when they are facing an unprecedented wave of hatred, I wanted to offer a space of love and affirmation. I shared Indigenous knowledge on gender and sexual identities while playing nothing but music from Native artists whose identities exist outside the colonizer’s “binary” definition— Mahū, Two-Spirit, Trans, Nonbinary, and beyond.
