Music has a way of coming back around, sometimes in ways you don’t expect. Lately, I’ve been revisiting some past edits and remixes—tracks I worked on a couple of years ago that were released on compilations but hadn’t made their way onto my Mixcloud until now. Today, I finally uploaded two of them: my edit of Choose Your Weapon by C/A/T and my remix of Display by God Module.

C/A/T - Choose Your Weapon (Shane Aungst Edit)
I’ve known Ben from C/A/T and his wife for a couple of decades. Back when I DJ’d at Club Noc Noc for about 13 years, they were regulars, and I always respected them—not just for their music but as genuinely good people. When they moved to California about 12 years ago, we lost touch.

A couple of years ago, I worked an edit of Choose Your Weapon into a mix and sent it to Ben. It ended up being released on CRL Studios Presents: Forms Volume 3, which was a great surprise. God Module - Display (Shane Aungst Remix)
This one has a bit of a funny backstory. Jasyn Bangert (God Module) and I run a DJ night together, so we’re always bouncing music off each other. At one point, he asked me to remix Display, expecting a solid club-friendly version.

The timing was… interesting. I had been deep into classic noise albums—Too Dark Park, Pulse Demon, old Merzbow—and that influence definitely took over. What he got was anything but a dancefloor banger. We still joke about it—he was all excited to hear the remix, only to get hit with a wall of noise.
