Saxually Active presents - Waxually Active 001
For the very first installment of the series—hosted by Soul Brother Records' very own Will Fox—we take you to deep, Jazz infused landscapes, ranging from classic Jazz artists such as Lonnie Liston Smith, Patrice Rushen, Webster Lewis to more esoteric and worldly Saxmen of yore, spanning the breadth of the Jazz-Fusion and Jazz-Funk genres.
Among the featured Saxophonists in this musical melange are Panama's Carlos Garnett, who enjoyed stints with Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard and Norman Connors throughout his long and illustrious career as an alto-man, Dick Morrisey, a tenor saxophonist who alongside Jim Mullen would go on to create a cannonical Jazz-Funk / Fusion sound with a uniquely British register, and Michael Brecker, one half of the Brecker Brothers alongside brother Randy on Trumpet, who notoriously blew so hard that he burst blood vessels in his neck and would often go on stage wearing a neck brace during performances.
