Sander Bruijs was born and raised in Rotterdam. Growing up in a music loving family, musical development was supported from an early age. Influenced at a young age by classic soul and R&B, his love for music went from pop in the early 80s to hip hop and the first house music in the late 80s and early 90s.

His first set in front of an audience was in a club he loved, Exposure in The Hague. More performances followed quickly in the thriving Rotterdam electronic music scene and from around 1995 he started spinning regularly in venues like S.O.L.O. alongside G Presents and on MTC after-parties under the name DJ Sander. His first sound was mainly club-house, but gradually his taste for records went from tech-house to progressive and techno which he has been playing ever since.
