I was ten when I found a pioneer portable reel to reel and started recording college and cultural radio shows and I would cut out the DJ talk and splice the songs together on the tape. Then I'd comp them down to cassettes and share them with kids at school. Some times I'd drop in samples from radio talk shows or movies. It was more like cut ups and collages than it was DJing. But that's how it started.
