The Royal Sounds, a five-piece reggae band from Edmonton, is really a band of the future. Although their age range is 17 – 25 they have been together the best part of ten years and already acquired a wide range of experience touring in Europe, backing singers, and working as session musicians. In June they put in a stunning performance of music they wrote specially for the opening of Forty Hall. They have just finished producing an album called Tell Dem by Papa Jawal and are currently writing and recording an album with former Massive Attack singer Ras Anthony. Another album project the band has in hand is with Edmonton sing-J sensation Hannibal. Royal Sounds is spearheaded by multi-instrumentalist brothers Ajani and Gyasi, and their credits include Winston Reedy, Dr Dean I, Ray Carless, Denis Bovell, Frankie Paul, African Head Charge,Gappy Ranks.
