Rodolfo Torres

Born and raised in East Los Angeles. Rodolfo D. Torres is Professor of Urban Planning,Chicano/Latino Studies, Political Science, and Culture and Theory at the University of California, Irvine. He is a former Adam Smith Foundation Fellow and Visiting Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Glasgow. He is author and editor of sixteen books including Latino Metropolis (University of Minnesota Press, 2000) After Race (New York University Press, 2004), and Savage State: Welfare Capitalism & Inequality (Rowman and Littlefield, 2005) and most recently Race Defaced (Stanford University Press, 2012) co-authored with Chris Kyriakides. He is Co-Editor of Ethnicities (Sage).
