A St Louis native, Robert Ginsburg has lived in Fayetteville, Arkansas since 1976, and began producing a jazz radio show on KUAF-FM. Today “Shades of Jazz,” stands as the station’s longest running program.
In 1992 Robert founded the Northwest Arkansas Jazz Society (NWAJS), a 501c3 organization t dedicated to present, preserve, promote and celebrate Jazz. The organization produces a concert series featuring major jazz musicians as well as regional artists. The NWAJS also sponsors scholarships for aspiring jazz musicians, which after 18 years has paid tuition for more than 85 students to attend Jamey Aebersold’s Summer Jazz Camp.
In 1993 Ginsburg became part of NW Arkansas’s then-emerging multi-venue Walton Arts Center, serving as “jazz curator”, booking nationally touring artists and guiding their educational outreach to schools.
