Richie Vegas cut his DJing teeth in his late teens - messing about with hip hop and breaks - before plundering his family’s record collections and forging a sound that includes soul, funk, jazz, Afrobeat and reggae. An integral member of the Jiggery Pokery collective (2000-2003 RIP) - running eclectic hip hop nights in Liverpool and beyond - Rich’s distinctive style has found him playing countless gigs over the intervening 15 years. From holding residences at some of the finest bars and clubs (Mellowtone, The Merchant, Shipping Forecast, The Magnet), to playing festivals, galleries and shindigs (Africa Oye, Tate Liverpool, Positive Vibration) and supporting visiting dignitaries (Lee Scratch Perry, Hot 8 Brass Band, Don Letts, Seun Kuti and Egypt 80).
