We have a theory about Track 3 on any given album. Back before streaming services and the shuffle button you’d listen to an album from start to finish. Track 1 was often the big opener, often already a hit single ahead of the album’s release. Track 2 is equally good - certainly good enough to keep you interested and excited for what lay ahead on the LP (or on our case, cassette) but it was Track 3 that almost always was the decider.
This is where we feel a band puts it’s best song, it’s favourite song from the albums recording sessions. It may not be the biggest hit, but that’s okay. But whenever we're stuck on choosing a song, we always go for Track 3, and it rarely ever fails.
So each week on the show in amongst all the other music, we select 3 different albums, and play the first 3 tracks.
