God With Us

This is one of my favorite passages. Isaiah announces the coming of the Servant of God. The Servant brings justice—but what does that mean? Justice could mean judgment—fire and brimstone on unbelievers and the wicked. But in this case the Servant comes gently. He does not break those who are already bruised and hurting. He heals, he sets people free.

God is entirely for us—aware of our weaknesses and needs and failures. God comes in Christ to heal and to give life.
