Marriage
00:00
In Genesis 2 the story pictures the creation of man
and woman in the context of the whole of creation.
Man and woman are created for each other—to
join together and work together in God’s creation.
They are uniquely created for God’s purpose and
for each other.
So marriage is not just a physical act or a human
institution but something woven into creation
itself and God’s plan.
Modern people want to look at marriage quite
differently: as something for our own purpose
and our own pleasure. Many people are skeptical
about the viability of marriage as one man and
one woman for all time (and skeptical about much
more than that).
I think that marriage is for us—but not just, or
even primarily, for the individual.
Marriage is a great place for growing as people.
Marriage takes lots of hard work, even more
forgiveness and patience.
Marriage has become a pretty controversial
topic—and who knew that was going to happen?
But marriage can be about much more than what
we think and want for ourselv
