London, United Kingdom

Somerset-born but now London-based and with a background in classical music, Reader offers up her own unique, future-facing take on RnB. Driving the sound away from it’s roots, she pushes it forward with an icy, mechanical tones and glossy, cinematic scope.

Her vocals on her debut single ‘Icicle’, which is underpinned by a crunching, heavyset trap beat produced by The Last Skeptik, border on hypnotic, tapping into the sounds pioneered by iconic acts like Portishead and Massive Attack, although remains rooted in her own experiences.

Although more commonly associated with releasing music by the likes of Scrufizzer, Dream Mclean and Mikill Pane, Reader’s debut reaffirms ThaRising singer-songwriter producer Reader is to releasenks For Trying’s desire to shine a light onto some of the UK’s most exciting new artists from right across the underground spectrum.
