Proteuskim was born in Houston, Texas and grew up with the MK-Ultra Rice Radio shows that broadcasted Detroit Techno, Acid House, Ambient, eclectic music, etc. After high school he moved to Austin where his interest in club music peaked. The main club at that time was Proteus (thus the name). After 8 years in Austin he moved to Los Angeles and then Tokyo. He has been a Tokyo artist since 2007. Along with Alix helped create a scene in western Tokyo.
