Tarkus always worked somewhat better for me than Brain Salad Surgery. So you played Toccata, and it sounded good. Then, at some point, it started to sound a lot better, with great drive, feeling and everything. I interrupted my work for a while to enjoy the music and I thought like, wow, maybe Brain Salad Surgery was better than I thought after all. Then I checked the song that was playing and, what would you think — it was Tarkus all along!

RIP. ELP's Japan tour is famous for its loudness. People in Japan in those days realized how tremendous rock bands were for the first time.
