Principle, born Jermaine Bernard, on April 24, 1983 in Constitution Hill, a community which is located in the cool hills of rural St. Andrew. He relocated to Rock Hall, a quite community also in St. Andrew, with his parents at the tender age of seven.
Most of Principle's childhood years were spent learning his craft from some of the best in reggae music. His love for reggae music stemmed from being around his mentors, the Bonner brothers. His respect and adoration for the Bonners, Spanner in particular, lead him to pattern his voice and early performances after the reggae Icon. In his early years Principle was often referred to as a clone of Spanner Bonner.
